History

ellis-fdLightsey Farms has been in continuous operation since 1918 close to the small Texas town of Mexia in Limestone County, Texas.  It was established by Erie Elijah Lightsey with help from his wife, Mary Ellen, who started by planting cotton and then switched to peaches.

The second generation was spearheaded by Erie and Mary Ellen’s son, Erie Ellice Lightsey, who expanded the farm operation and was the first local grower in Texas to provide direct store delivery to H.E.B. Foods, a valued relationship that continues to this day.  Ellice, who was known as one of the best growers in the state, passed away in 2009 and left the care of the farm to his two daughters, Mary and Lisa, who share the vision of continuing the legacy of their father.

The success of the farm is a combination of hard work, good soil, and good management.  This is evidenced by the size, taste and overall quality of our fruits and vegetables
